Thanksgiving Movies?

My most recent adventure was a trip down to St. Louis to visit my sis Brooke. I have to say I sacrificed a lot when I went there...actually I didn't at all. Brooke payed for half of my plane ticket (an old b-day present that was almost expired) and I had to skip a half of week of classes (which I was devastated about as you can imagine). I absolutely had a blast. I arrived Saturday night in St. Louis, and my sis picked me up and we had lunch, walked "The Loop", then went to Wash U's campus to see all the beautiful buildings and visit a friend (Josh Slawski) who was studying dillagently on a Saturday afternoon (which doesn't happen a lot any where else). That night we also went to Alton, Ill. to "Fast Eddies Bar". It was a great night with 1/2 lb hamburgers for $.99. (aka Heaven) Also, we took advatage of my new age limit...we'll leave it at that. The rest of the trip was great, kind of overshaddowed by the Anhieser-Bush Brewery Tour on Sunday, which resulted in a great hour tour of the historic brewery, and ended gracefully with 2 free beers.

To get to my point, we have to fast foward about 4 days. On the Wednesday before thanksgiving, we made our treck to the beloved city of Lawrence, KS. There awated a weekend of great food, great basketball/football, and great family time. I have so much to be thankful for in my life, and family is one of those things. Also what came out of it was great movie sales at Best Buy...

I am an avid movie...collector? I question my word choice because I love to buy movies, but I will never spend more than $7.00 on one movie at a time. Me and my dad went to shop at Best Buy on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I was sooo excited to get some good movie deals. While I was there, I began to ponder, "How much money I have spent in my lifetime on movies?" My answer was "A lot". My next question was "Why do I buy so many of these movies that I may watch only one more time?" I think that answer will get its own paragraph...

Its complicated. I get some movies because they bring back GREAT memories of when I was a kid. I remember watching "Newsies" about 100 times with Brooke growing up. Little did I know that the star actor in that kids movie would grow up to play Batman in the best movie of all time (Dark Knight). And I remember watching "Big" with a young Tom Hanks on a VHS tape that was recorded off of T.V. one day. So when I see those kinds of movies in DVD form, a form that I know won't go out of style for at least another 10 years (reference Marc Havener), I get excited. Those are the kinds of movies that I want my kids in the future to watch. They are classics and movies that I think they and I would enjoy watching together. It's weird to me to think that far ahead, but it's true. I want to spread the happieness I had as a kid with other people, and if I have the perfect movie for someone's mood one night, and it puts a smile on their face..........then its all worth it.

BUT NO CHICK FLICKS....haha good night
